The 162nd run was on Sunday February 12thThe Hares were Blueballs & Nine 1/2 It was the Valentine hash and 24 mad walkers and runners turned up in the rain. Sir Ranulph Fiennes abandoned the run as his dog sled team was blown over Fairlight cliff. It was difficult scaling the north face of Mt Fairlight in such conditions. Hyperbole apart it was a cold wet windy day that only abated as the hash left the heights of Fairlight and descended the leeward side to the woods and fields beyond. The team of Blue Balls and 9 ½ proved masterful again as they had the 7 runners going in circles struggling to keep up with the 17 walkers. The hazards were not over as Mud Wrestler was felled by the slippery slopes (it must have been an Irish Whip). Playawayalso had difficulty staying on his feet. A bedraggled and weary mob arrived back at the pub and dispensed with the down-downs in favour of beer and hot food. Hashers are not always dumb it seems. top |
