168th Hash was on Sunday July 2nd

the hares

Fair Butt and Dancing Queenwere the Hares

"It was a monster hash" paraphrasing the song.
Actually it was about 9 miles on the hottest day of the year up and down some of the steepest hills that East Sussex has to offer.

To be fair there wasn't much whining; a lot of gasping and phewing but no grievance with the hares. They had worked extraordinarily hard with such a long devious trail. Unfortunately a lot of the flour they had so carefully put down was missing. Everything eats it; slugs, dogs, cows and worst of all seagulls. What! seagulls in Hastings, I hear you gasp.baby gulls Well, just a few.

Everything started well with a lovely tour of the Hastings old town back alleys. There were some clever if not to say cruel back checks up to the West Hill. Everyone expected a quick romp around the East Hill then back to Fair Butt's place for the beercheck. The hares had other plans.

Cliffbanger, knowing the trails there very well, took a couple of strategic shortcuts much to the irritation of poor suffering bastards lumbering up and down the glens.

hilly run

At the beercheck Bushsquatter not content with beer, had and ice cream as well.
The pack knew the distance back to the pub, and it wasn't short. They didn't know the hare was going to make it longer by going over North Seat via a great detour.

Too exhausted and hungry, ceremonies were dispensed with in favour of food. Despite this the pack agreed that it was a great run.
