1066th run of the Old Coulsdon Hash was on Feb.17th.
The OCH3 celebrated their 1066th run
It was also our 200th.
Nine1/2 and-Q-Balls were the Hares
Invading hoards are not what they used to be. Gone are the days of blood lust and plunder.
Instead they worry if they will snag their new Lycra tights on barbed wire or that the beer might be warm and imported.
Defending Saxons (Sacksons)have fared little better over the generations thinking that tinfoil and sackcloth or an ill fitting plastic Viking helmet might intimidate the invaders.
The Hares (Nine and a Half & Q Balls) set a great and testing trail. Bullshit found every back-check there was, but still called the rest of the pack on, frightened perhaps that he might get left behind.
The walkers obviously were re-enacting the march from Stanford Bridge as they took several days to make it to the Beer Check. The runners went on to Battle without them.
(An historical note: Harold lost the battle because he didn't wait for important stragglers still on the way from Stanford)
William brought many hangers- on hoping for a share of the booty.Likewise Old Coulston dragged in Friends of the Mole,Surrey, East Grinstead and even Brighton. This made for an interesting Circle where a rabble of R.A.s castigated the miscreants. The culmination being a big let down when Streaky Bacon received her T-shirt and allowed modesty to prevail. Yes, invading hoards are not what they used to be.
